The blade is made of 1095 high carbon steel, it's differentially hardened, beautiful hamon is clearly visible and runs along the cutting edge. The tsuka and saya are octahedral, made of hardwood with clear varnish coating. Fuchi and koiguchi are made of black polished buffalo horn. The mekugis are also made of bufflo horn. The sword is suitable to light cutting.
This hand-forged Japanese Shirasaya katana sword features a clay-tempered blade, crafted using the traditional clay tempering process. The blade is made of 1095 steel, with the clay mixture carefully applied to create a distinctive heat treat and quenching process that results in a mirror-like bright blade. The sword undergoes a high temperature treatment followed by rapidly cooling in water or oil, giving it a flexible spine and exceptional strength.
